From Kosovo to Silverton...
Senior year is a time filled with excitement, growth, and unforgettable experiences. For Flaka, an exchange student from Kosovo, this year has been extra special not just for her, but for me as well being her host mom. She's a senior at Silverton High School and jumped right in with all the activities from cross country, speech and debate, outdoor school counselor, theater, choir and soon track and field. She's always so positive and up for a new adventure.
We started her session in downtown Silverton. There are so many cool buildings and texture that a downtown session gives you infinite possibilities.
Next we headed over to the Oregon Gardens. It was a nice contrast to the urban setting with her floral dress. I love the little pops of colors we were able to get. The gardens are wonderful because every time I go something new is blooming or growing.
As the sun started to set we made our way to our final stop, the Silverton Reservoir. I love that she showed her Albanian pride holding up the Kosovo flag. Fun fact, did you know that Kosovo is the youngest European country? (although their history and culture go back 10,000+ years) It's been so fun learning all about this beautiful country we knew nothing about.
Flaka's sessions was so much fun, filled with lots of laughs. I am so grateful to have her as part of our family this year and forever.
