Why You Should Consider Bringing Pets to Senior Photo Sessions
Senior photos are such a wonderful time and including your favorite pet or animal can make the experience extra special.
1. Personal Connection
Pets hold a special place in our hearts. Including them in senior photos can highlight the bond you have with your dog, cat, horse or other animal, offering a glimpse into your life and the connection you share.
2. Natural Expressions
Pets can bring out genuine smiles and laughter. The playfulness of a dog or the cool, calm of a cat can create a relaxed feeling. As you are interacting with your animals it can create lots of natural smiles and laughter.
3. Creating Memorable Moments
Pets can be such a big part of your life and core memories that it just makes sense to include them in your senior portraits. Over time, these photos will become even more meaningful.
A Few Tips for Including Pets in Senior Photos
- Pick the Right Location: Sometimes this means I am coming to your house for senior photos. This is especially true when it comes to cats, horses and farm animals. For dogs, I often have people bring the dogs to the first part of the session.
- Plan Ahead: Bring along treats, toys, and water to keep your pet engaged and happy during the session. Typically my seniors have someone take the dogs home after their part of the session so the rest of them time can be focused totally on the senior.
- Keep Leashes Handy: Even if your pet is well-behaved, it’s always a good idea to have a leash available.
- Be Ready for Excitement: Be prepared for some unpredictability, and remember that some of the best moments come from unexpected behaviors.
While dogs are the most common animal to come along for photos, I have photographed so many more animals including cats, horses, pigs, goats, sheep, guinnea pigs and more. If it's an animal you love, I am willing to photograph it.
